We currently have a great group of geldings that we're excited to be offering this fall. We've been riding and finishing them in the WHR Way all year, and they are well-seasoned with us and ready to go.
The extreme hot weather in July and August drove us to Wyoming once again this summer, so we took four and put a lot of miles on them in the backcountry up Willow Creek above Hoback River Ranch, where we put on our second annual clinic for a private group. It's always a refreshing getaway, and our stay with hosts Bob Bradley and Suzanne Grottendorfer was highlighted by the spectacular views we soaked in atop nearby mountains.
Our handsome trusty steeds covered breath-taking trails that took us up to 10,000 feet with 360º views of the Tetons, Sawtooth, Gros Ventre, Wind River, and Wyoming Ranges. We spent time on the Green River Rim allotment, checking cattle with our cowboy buddies. Our horses are all hearty, willing, ground-eating troopers that managed the rough terrain composed and in style. It was a lot of fun, as well as a great proving ground for the geldings. What a joy to be astride such confident, well-mannered individuals. Life is too short not to be riding a good one!
Check them out on the new Gelding Update page. We have a mild fall ahead of us, making for a beautiful Indian summer here at the Home Ranch as we're scheduling horse client appointments now. Call Wil or Beverly mornings or evenings Pacific Time at 541-893-6535.
Fall Horse Sale Entries...
In an effort to downsize more this winter, we have a couple of extra horses entered in two fall horse sales and are also acting as an agent for a third. See our sale entries going to the Billings Cow Country Sale September 23 and the Fall Hermiston Extravaganza Sale October 14 at the brand new Umatilla County Fairgrounds.
Fall Colors FFF Course & Private Clinics Offered...
Fall in northeast Oregon is always a nice place to be with our little micro climate here in Richland, so we're offering a Fall Colors Foundation to Finished Ranch Versatility & Horsemanship Course October 18-22, 2017. Choose a two, four, or five-day format. Also, we are taking appointments now for Private Clinic sessions through November. Call Beverly for details at 541-893-6535.
Returning to Arizona this Winter...
This winter we will return to our southeastern Arizona Outpost in Cochise, after staying home in Oregon last year. We invite you avid, striving WHR horseman and cowgirls to plan on joining us in the winter sunshine, as we're getting close to "Last Call" there. Our dates are not yet confirmed, but we will keep you posted as soon as possible. We'll probably put it off going till January sometime...we hope to stay later and skip the spring break-up and mud season here in Oregon. We plan to be available for Private Clinics and offer our Foundation to Finished Bridle Horsemanship, Ranch Versatility, Trail & Cowgirls Only Horsemanship sessions. Call and book your winter getaway now! There's nothing like riding the southwest desert in the winter and schooling your horse in the sunshine, soaking up the endless source of horse-training wisdom from Wil and I, now in our 40th year together.
Keep striving for that refined, better ride,
being a consistent leader for your horse.
Always seek that "soft feel" in your
communication with your horse...
and those around you as well.
May God bless you,
Beverly & Wil
and Katie Ranch Dog
