Happy New Year! from the Wil Howe Ranch
Tumbleweed OutPost

Dear Friends,

e are now settling into our Arizona winter here in Cochise, clearing and burning tumbleweeds from our horse paddocks and arenas, the sun is shining, it’s clear and cold and there’s no mud or snow! We look forward to getting back to riding right away!

WHR Round Pen Price Increase!

As of January 15th our Round Pens will have a rate increase to $2,130. As our suppliers are faced with the ever rising cost of steel & freight we have been holding off and absorbing their price hikes until now. It has been since 2003 since we have raised our prices. We still feel we offer the finest quality and safest design round pen available on the market at an affordable price . We are able to offer great shipping delivery prices, still in the $200-300 range for the west coast $400 range for the midewest and around $675 for the east coast & Florida. If you have been on the fence about ordering one ... do it now!!! Call our new retail salesman Dary Reed at 509-952-3188 for details and a freight quote.

WHR Tack & Video Retail Line Moves!

s New Year reigns in a time for change for us all and it’s a good time to start a new! Here at the Wil Howe Ranch we are announcing the transfer of our retail line of products to our long time friend & close business associate, Dary Reed. As of January 1st 2008 in an exclusive partnership, Dary Reed will be handling the retail sales orders & shipping for the Wil Howe Ranch, including the Wil Howe Practical Use Tack & Accessories line & Wil & Beverly’s Training Video/DVD Series. Orders can continue to be made online through the Wil Howe Ranch website which will take you directly to Dary's new home website…. Huckleberry’s Line Shack. To contact Dary Reed for WHR orders now call 509-952-3188. Our 800 number will slowly be phased out , but for now during this transition , Bonnie & Arnie will continue to answer & service our WHR customers forwarding them to Dary for retail orders and handling the bookkeeping details of our schools & sending out WHR info packets.

e are quite excited with the new arrangement and feel Dary will add some flare to our outfit, and with his knowledge of our program and training tack he will be a great asset to our customers calling for training gear advice and questions about our operations.

on’t be surprised if Dary takes a minute to find his pen & pad when taking orders, as his office is mobile, he’ll either be in his truck or on horseback checking cattle when you call!

e plan to be adding some new items to our line in the future, but no big plans are made as of yet, however, the Huckleberry’s Line Shack will be offering extraordinary Cowboy Gear & Specialties from an elite group of western gear artisans. to check it out go to www.huckleberryslineshack.com.

December 2007 WHR Newsletter

Merry Christmas!

Dear Friends

Heading South…

ere' off and on the road again! Our annual nomadic migration to warmer weather has begun!... Arizona here we come!

We've had just about enough winter here!

e will be leaving our Richland, Oregon Home Ranch this weekend December 15th and stopping off in Prescott, Arizona to visit a horse client and arrive at the Tumbleweed Outpost mid week. We can be reached during our travels at 520-820-1096 or if you can wait, please leave your messages at our Arizona number in Cochise at 520-826-0188. We can be reached there all winter thru April.

t is quite an endeavor to pack up an entire ranch and move 1500 miles. Since are not packing for a vacation… everything has to go! Horses, tack, cat, chickens and the business office affairs of a working horse ranch. This year we are hauling 12 head and another 3 client horses are being shipped. We feel like the "Clampit's". But it is a fun, exciting trip we always look forward to. The easiest part is the horses, they load on their own! We thank God for our Motor home which tows a 4 horse trailer and makes it all happen in comfort and a Chevy Dually with a 100 horse chip that easily tows the load of 7 head in the gooseneck trailer, it's just the fueling up part that hurts! That's why we had to stay and sell another horse before we left to pay for the diesel!!

Horses Selling….

e would have left earlier but we have been tending to clients who keep coming and buying horses from all parts of the country! We've sold 6 head since November 1st. Last week we had a couple who weathered the ice storms & snow and drove out all the way from Kansas to buy a couple good Wil Howe geldings. The week before we had another happy couple, Dan & Barbara Firestone, fly up from Kingman, Arizona to seal a deal they had committed to by placing deposits on the horses after viewing a video of the horses.

Barb Firestone with new mounts Wyatt & Mesquite.

il has gotten to be quite the camera man after 20 plus years of filming every gelding we train & sell. To look back over our vast library of horses is simply amazing. Now with the new technology Wil has finally succumbed to a DVD camcorder and after January 1st we'll be copying them with the computer and be able to down load the footage online to our website! Wow!!! That's pretty sophisticated for a couple country hicks like us!

Video Clips now on WHR Website….

peaking of Video stream online… we now have our WHR Preview Video footage online, with a section about Wil's history on the Meet Wil & Bev Page and the video clips on the From Foundation to Finished Training & Beverly's Little Things That Count training Video Page and the Round Pen Page. We hope this helps people get a better understanding of where we are coming from when we teach and easier quicker access.

Winter Arizona School Sessions Coming Up...

et signed up and join us for a chance of a lifetime experience this winter at our Southwest "Tumbleweed" Outpost in Cochise, Arizona! It'll be another a great season of Horse Training School sessions, in the most spectacular southwest desert mountain country!

You can stay for both and make it a 10-day horseman's getaway! February 24th - March 1st once again will be Beverly's popular Ladies Only" Practical Horsemanship Course, and this class has been a big draw as predicted, guys treat your wives to this special retreat for Christmas… what a great gift. Check out Beverly's ad in Cowboy's & Indians in the January issue Getaway section!

hen we'll be training folks and horses to be confident, bold & safe trail blazers in our Extreme Trail Training Horsemanship Course March 12-18. which offers an unbeatable introduction to Wil & Beverly's safety & common sense horsemanship, and tactful obstacle negotiating skills while taking in the southwest desert & mountains from a whole new perspective… proactive riding rather than reactive riding. Offering an exciting & challenging week for any level of trail rider. For School details click here! Early-bird discounts are still available.

heck out the 2008 School Schedule for our Richland, Oregon Home Ranch sessions as they are also booking up presently, we are holding the same classes as Arizona, (except no cow class), including another Trail Riders Training & Horsemanship in May. Just in time for the spring wildflowers in our Northeast Oregon high desert.

GrapeVine News from the WHR…

n October while attending the Idaho Reined Cow Horse Snaffle Bit Futurity we got to catch up with former student, Zeph Schulz from Utah who had 2 horses in the finals there and recently claimed the Montana Reined Cow Horse Snaffle Bit Championship. Congratulations Zeph! Wil is most proud of him for his unchanged, warm personality, and his beautiful family of 4 kids and his lovely, supporting wife Liz. It's been 10 long years and they're doing well.

he Aliso Canyon Ranch Gang, of Ventura, California are having fun as usual, here shown enjoying their Wil Howe geldings is Fred Ferro, 82? with Sox and Jim Koslow aboard Playgun ponying Smoke. What a fine bunch of horses, and two lucky guys!

dded to the bunch is now Chuck McGrath, 74 of the Ventura area also who just was up in November to purchase Chex, a fine 9 yr. bay gelding Wil's been riding 11/2 years. Word of Wil's good geldings travels like wild fire in those parts. (But Sox & Playgun were Beverly's personal show cow horses!)

im Suit of Prescott, Arizona, WHR student is thrilled to now have Freckles his new WHR "cowpony" boarded nearby so he can head for the hills on the weekends and when he plays hooky from work! After 3 classes with us he's truly bitten by the bug and is taking his horsemanship seriously. It's great to see folks getting out there 'doin' it". We'll be visiting Jim when passing through on our trip south. Jim will also be joining us with Freckles for lessons this winter at the Outpost.

We look forward to you joining us to hone your horsemanship
skills and "Cowboy Up "this winter under the Arizona sunshine!!

God Bless and May you have a Merry, Merry Christmas!
